A few weeks ago our family was blessed with a trip to Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina located in Sooke, BC. To be quite honest, I never heard of Sooke, BC before! So of course, I was super happy that we finally had the chance to explore more of our province!

It was even more amazing when we were able to bring along my good friend Diana from With Love Diana B and her family along on our trip.

She is also a mama of three boys and recently started her blog (takes amazing photos),  definitely check her out.

Getting to Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina with BC Ferries

Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina is located about 35 minutes from Victoria. And about, three and half hours away from Vancouver, BC. Which isn’t that far away when you truly think about it.

The route to Sooke, BC includes a quick ride on BC Ferries. We drove on at the Tsawwassen Bay Terminal in Tsawassen to catch our pre-booked reservation. Which is super easy to do online 🙂

They ask that you show up about 45 minutes to 1 hour before your sailing so that you have enough time to check-in. Once you check in you have the chance to look around inside the terminal and check out all the local shops! I was really excited about the ferry ride because I haven’t been on a ferry for quite some time. Plus, we haven’t been on a ferry as a family unit so that was definitely checked off our list.

All three boys were thrilled to be on the “big boat” (quote from Abel). BC Ferries has a play area to keep your children occupied during the ferry ride. Wifi,  equipped with outlets (to charge your electronics), tons of seating, great food and more!

BC Ferries allows us mainlanders and tourists the opportunity to visit Vancouver Island which is just a ferry ride away. You can decide to walk on or drive on. Whatever you decide just make sure you bring your camera (or phone) to take some pictures.

Visiting Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina

Once we arrived at Swartz Bay Terminal, we drove about an hour to Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina, and let me tell you that the whole ride up there was stunning.

Sooke is such a beautiful town and I probably would live there if I didn’t have to go to work haha!

We checked into the Resort later that afternoon and our penthouse suite absolutely FABULOUS. The Penthouse suite is extremely spacious and about 2,200 sq.

Both Diana and I have a family of 5 (we are the only girls), so the penthouse suite fit our large group of 10 perfectly.

The main level features one bedroom with a king sized bed, open-concept living and dining area, gourmet fully-equipped kitchen, large ensuite bathroom, a half-size bathroom, and a full-size pool table.

The upper level consists of three bedrooms featuring king, queen, and twin size beds, and two bathrooms (one ensuite off the king bedroom).

Watch the videos below to really see the beauty of it.

Another great thing about Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina is that it sits adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. So you know that the views are stunning.

Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina is a fantastic vacation destination for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.Think: marina, fishing charters, west coast beaches, golfing, wine tours, whale watching, rainforest hikes, and so much more.

Westcoast Outdoors

Speaking of the outdoors. Westcoast Outdoors is located in the same facility as Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina. This is super convenient for those who want a more hands-on experience touring around Sooke, BC.

I enjoyed a morning kayak using a  fast and stable foot powered Hobie kayak {no paddles are needed}. We roamed around the marina for about an hour and it was such a great way to kick off our adventure.

Sooke Potholes Provincial Park

One of the must-see places in Sooke, BC is Sooke Potholes Provincial Park. It is a popular destination along the Sooke River with an incredible view and unique rock formations. You can set up a cute picnic or you can hike the low-intensity trails along the river to find some great viewpoints.

And if you are wondering, you can definitely take a dip in Sooke River. The water was crystal clear and was surprinsgly warm.

We decided that we would use this as a photo opportunity and they turned out amazing.

Here are a couple of them 🙂

True Key Adventures / True Key Fishing

Before we left, Diana and I snuck away for an hour in the morning and enjoyed a quick harbour tour with True Key Adventure around the marina.

It was great to learn all about Sooke, BC and how it came to be such a great town. The oyster farm is one of the biggest I’ve seen! The houses sitting around the Marina are so lucky 😛

Check out their site for all the tours, charters and more! Truekeyfishing.com

Overall

I wish we had a couple extra days to explore Sooke, BC even more. I feel like two days was not enough 😛

the town of Sooke is close to Vancouver Island’s largest population centre but a world away from the hustle and bustle of
urban life.

Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina really spoiled us and I couldn’t be more thankful. I have a funny feeling that I will be back (minus the kids).

What do you love most about BC? let me know in the comments =D
